TG:HDL Blood Code – Heart Disease Risk Calculator

TG:HDL Blood Code - Heart Disease Risk Calculator

Enter your triglycerides (TG) and HDL values to calculate the ratio.

How It Works:

  • The user enters values for TG and HDL in mg/dL.
  • The button triggers the calculation of the TG:HDL ratio.
  • The result is displayed along with a message indicating the user’s risk level.

About – TG:HDL Blood Code – Heart Disease Risk Calculator

The TG:HDL Blood Code – Heart Disease Risk Calculator is a valuable tool designed to help individuals assess their risk of heart disease based on the ratio of their triglycerides (TG) to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This ratio is an important indicator of metabolic health and heart disease risk. By calculating the TG:HDL ratio, the tool provides insights into the user’s cardiovascular health, allowing for informed decisions about lifestyle changes, medical intervention, or further testing.

Blood Code Reference Ranges:

  • Optimal Range (0.5–1.9): A ratio in this range indicates a healthy balance between triglycerides and HDL cholesterol, suggesting good metabolic health.
  • Some Insulin Resistance (2.0–3.0): A ratio within this range may suggest the presence of insulin resistance, which could lead to type 2 diabetes and other metabolic issues.
  • Significant Insulin Resistance & Heart Disease Risk (>3.0): A ratio above 3.0 indicates significant insulin resistance, a risk factor for heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and other health complications.

How the Calculator Works:

The calculator uses the following logic:

  • Triglycerides (TG) and HDL cholesterol are entered in mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter).
  • The calculator calculates the TG:HDL ratio by dividing TG by HDL.
  • Based on the ratio, the tool categorizes the individual’s risk into three categories:
    1. Optimal Range (0.5–1.9)
    2. Some Insulin Resistance (2.0–3.0)
    3. Significant Risk (>3.0)

Conversion Factor for Non-U.S. Units:

If you are using measurements in mmol/L, the calculator will automatically prompt you to convert the values into mg/dL:

  • HDL (mmol/L to mg/dL): Multiply by 39
  • Triglycerides (mmol/L to mg/dL): Multiply by 89

This ensures that the tool works correctly with both U.S. and international units.
