It is worth noting that offering supplements in conjunction with a diet is a red flag. The most heavily advertised products appear to be Total Restore, Lectin Shield, and BioComplete. It is questionable if Lectin Shield serves as a means of exploiting individuals who believe in the notion of lectins as harmful. 

BioComplete

BioComplete is a dietary supplement manufactured by Dr. Gundry. It is marketed as a pre/pro/post biotic that contains Tributyrin, Sunfiber, and lactobacillus, and is advertised as a product that reduces cravings, helps with weight loss, and increases energy.

However, there is limited scientific evidence to support the claims made by the manufacturer about BioComplete and its ingredients. While Tributyrin, Sunfiber, and lactobacillus are commonly used in dietary supplements, the safety and efficacy of BioComplete have not been extensively studied, and more research is needed to verify its claims.

It is also worth noting that BioComplete contains sunflower oil, which Dr. Gundry claims is “loaded with lectins.” This contradicts his own claims about the harmful effects of lectins, and further raises questions about the credibility of the product and its manufacturer.

As with any dietary supplement, it is important to consult a healthcare professional before using BioComplete, as it may interact with existing conditions or medications.

Total Restore

Total Restore is a dietary supplement manufactured by Dr. Gundry. It is marketed as a product that promotes a healthy gut lining and reduces junk food cravings. The main ingredient in Total Restore is glutamine, an amino acid commonly used for gut health. However, the amount of glutamine contained in Total Restore (213mg) is much lower than the dosages (5-45g) that have been shown to have a positive effect on the gut.

Like with any dietary supplement, the efficacy of Total Restore has not been extensively studied, and further research is needed to verify its claims. It is always advisable to speak with a healthcare professional before using any dietary supplements, as they may interact with existing conditions or medications.

While glutamine has been shown to have a positive effect on the gut in high doses, the 213mg present in Total Restore is not likely to be effective. Fiber, found in whole grains, vegetables, legumes, and fruit, is a proven effective method for promoting a healthy gut lining.

Lectin Shield

Lectin Shield is a dietary supplement manufactured by Dr. Gundry. It is marketed as a product that protects against the negative effects of lectins, a type of protein commonly found in many foods. The product claims to improve digestive health and support overall wellness.

However, the concept of lectins being harmful to the body and needing to be removed from the diet is not widely accepted in the scientific community, and there is limited evidence to support the claims made by the manufacturer. Additionally, the safety and efficacy of Lectin Shield have not been extensively studied, and more research is needed to verify its claims. Before using Lectin Shield or any other similar products, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional for guidance.
